First off, I don't know how some of y'all did it while watching the series as it aired. How did you wait an entire week to find out what happened next????
Anyways, I finally finished Haikyuu season three and let me tell, it was a freaking ride. I tried liking sports anime and at one point I was watching Prince of Tennis but realized I was only doing it because a ton of friends at the time loved it.
Now, yes I did pick up Haikyuu because the internet kept recommending it but man did it capture my attention. But okay, back to my review.
Season three focused on Karasuno going to the finals and going up against Shiratorizawa. They're the five times champs and the winner of this said match will go on to the National Volleyball championship! The short season (10 eps) and with it called Karasuno vs Shiratorizawa, you know that they focus on this just one game.
I didn't know how I would handle seeing one match be an entire season but you know what? It worked for me. I won't be posting much in terms of spoilers here because I'm just going to assume you've seen it.
But if you haven't, don't worry I won't ruin it for you.
All I'm really going to say about this season is that it kept me on my toes and I just had to keep watching, hence the whole how did y'all do it week by week. They continue to treat it as if not all the viewers have volleyball experience but it wasn't in your face / drown you with so much information. That's one thing I love about this series. I love playing volleyball but I never learned all the official things about it. I knew there was a setter, spiker, and you rotate so everyone has a chance to serve. So it filled me in with what I need to know but didn't burn me out.
The series still try to make sure everyone was involved and it didn't just focus on one person but for a bit they were leaning that way. It all worked out in the end though. It was still good. I know this is Hinata's story but I'm so glad it doesn't 100% revolve around him. Season three still involved the entire team and their stories.
So in the end, season three as short as it was, only focusing on the one game was just as good as season one and season 2. And what that, I'm gonna go and start season four.
Seriously, I know everyone talks about Haikyuu but it's a really good show. The series just makes you want to root for these boys and it's not just all about volleyball. Give it a shot.
And can I just what a precious bean Asahi is! And that hug in the end with the third years? That got me.
